Spirit Walks With You: Following the Breadcrumbs of Guidance
What if Spirit isn’t waiting for you at the end of the path?
What if Spirit is walking with you along the path?
I’ve been thinking about the way guidance actually shows up.
Sometimes it’s direct.
Call this person.
Ask that question.
Turn this way.
Say that weird thing.
And sometimes it’s much quieter.
A feeling.
An idea.
A little breadcrumb.
And that’s where participation comes in.
Spirit may offer the breadcrumb, but I still get to choose whether I’m going to follow it.
If I do, something else often becomes visible.
Another opportunity.
Another clarification.
Another refinement.
Another breadcrumb.
And if I don’t follow it, I don’t believe I’ve ruined anything.
Spirit doesn’t withdraw love because I made a different choice.
I almost imagine Spirit saying, “Don’t worry. We have a million other ways we can do this.”
That changes guidance for me.
It becomes less about finding the one perfect path and more about being present enough to notice what feels clear now.
Sometimes guidance is direct.
Sometimes it’s subtle.
Either way, I still get to participate.
I still get to choose.
And Spirit keeps walking with me.
That’s the image I love most.
Spirit isn’t somewhere above me, moving me around like a marionette.
Spirit is beside me.
I don’t always have to reach up and out for guidance.
Sometimes I can just look over.
There is Spirit.
Still walking.
Still loving.
Still offering breadcrumbs.
Maybe guidance isn’t about having the whole map.
Maybe it’s about trusting what feels clear right now, taking the next honest step, and seeing what becomes visible next.
