What AM I

Spirit has guided me today to relax and do things I love and one thing I love doing is writing poems I was given a prompt to write about a question and then explore coming to the answer, this then ties into the other thing I love metaphysical, psychic, self-realization. I hope you enjoy the poem

What AM I, I asked myself one day—just a curiosity that seemed to continue to come up and stay. With a deep breath, I dove right in to see where this journey might begin.

We started in the shallows where most journeys begin, not going deep but finding a footing to start. I found it there, easy to see—I am a human, and that felt right. But I knew that was not all, just as the moon is not the only thing that illuminates the night.

So deeper into the water I go to see where the waters flowed. To something deeper, I said, "Take me," and off I went to see. The human is not what I am, but an experience that was at hand. I am a son, a brother, a thinker, an intuitive, and a teacher too.

But all those things, as I explored, are not me. In either aspect, this is true, but they are not me either. They are like the drops of dew—still but can drop away. None of them can define me, just like the morning dew.

Deeper I went in this flow to find out more of who I am or who I could be, and then, all of a sudden, it came to me: I am not the roles I play. I am not the experience I play. I am the watcher at the wall, the observer of it all, the one who sees and gets to retell it all.

I am not the darkness. I am not light. I simply AM what I AM, and now I sit right here in the void, knowing all things but at the same time knowing absolutely nothing. Contentment and joy I experience now, and I now take a deep, reverent bow to the now, the moment I experience now.
